Cash Stash player FAQs
Quick answers about playing, protecting your stash, and challenging rivals.
What is Cash Stash?
Cash Stash is a free browser strategy card game about building matching asset sets, covering valuable sets to protect them, and challenging rivals to steal exposed sets. Play solo against AI, online with friends, or pass-and-play on one device.
Is Cash Stash free, and do I need a download or account?
Cash Stash is free to play in your browser. You do not need to download an app, create an account, or sign up. Open the game and choose Play solo, Pass & play, or Play online.
Can I play solo or with friends?
Yes. Play solo against one to three AI opponents, pass one device between two to four local players, or create a private online room to play with friends on separate devices. Games have two to four seats in total, including AI opponents.
Can I play Cash Stash on my phone?
Yes. Cash Stash works in phone and desktop browsers, with controls designed for small screens. No app installation is required. Online multiplayer needs an internet connection.
How do I learn to play Cash Stash?
Open How to play from the game menu, read the short lessons, then choose Practice at the table for a guided tutorial. In a regular game, form matching asset sets, cover them with new sets, and challenge exposed rival sets. Simple rules are a useful starting point; Advanced is the default rules setting.
Which asset sets are protected from stealing?
The set at the bottom of a stash is always protected from challenges. In Simple and Simple with Action Cards, only the top set above the bottom can be challenged. In Advanced, the top two sets can be challenged, except for the bottom set. Protection follows a set's current position, so a Move card can change which set is safe.
How do I steal an opponent's assets?
First build at least one set of your own. On your turn, challenge an exposed rival set using a matching asset card or a wild card. The rival can concede or reveal matching cards to defend. Players take turns responding until one concedes; the winner keeps the target set and all cards revealed in that challenge. In Advanced, opening a challenge against the second-from-top set requires two matching cards or one Penny Jar.
Why can't I challenge a set?
A challenge must be a legal action on your turn. You need a set of your own, enough matching or wild cards in your hand, and an exposed rival set. Bottom sets and covered sets cannot be challenged. In Advanced, losing a challenge also prevents another challenge against that same rival for the rest of your turn.
What is the difference between Simple and Advanced rules?
Simple uses five-card hands and one action per turn, with no Swap, Move, or Penny Jar cards. Simple with Action Cards adds those cards while keeping one action per turn. Advanced uses six-card hands, up to two actions per turn, the Improve a Set action, and challenges against the top two sets instead of only the top set. The bottom set remains protected in every ruleset.
Does the Hard AI see my hidden cards?
No. The Hard AI makes decisions using its own hand and information visible during play. It searches possible hidden-card situations without reading opponents' actual hidden hands. Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulties are available for solo play.
How do I play online with a friend?
Choose Play online and host a room. Share its four-digit room code or invite link with your friends. They can join from their own browsers, enter a display name, and use the room code. The host starts the game when the room is ready. No account is required.
When does a game end, and who wins?
A game ends when the draw pile and every player's hand are empty. The player whose stash has the highest total asset value wins. There is no minimum score to reach.
How can I report a problem or give feedback?
Use Give feedback after a game, or email funamsec@gmail.com. For a rules or interface problem, describe what you expected, what happened, your device, and the game mode. Feedback is optional.
